Feline Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Download Our Feline Inflammatory Bowel Disease Article – PDF

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is one of the more common problems we see in middle-aged and older cats. The most common signs are vomiting and diarrhea, which is distressing for both cat and owner. While this is a chronic disease, most cats can be well-controlled with special diets and/or medications.

Websites we recommend:
Cat Friendly Homes’ diarrhea in cats discusses possible causes.

International Cat Care’s causes of diarrhea discusses possible causes with their treatments.

Cornell Feline Health Center’s inflammatory bowel disease is a good overview of symptoms, diagnosis, and possible treatments.

Veterinary Partner’s infiltrative bowel disease in cats is a good discussion of IBD and lymphoma, including tests used to make a diagnosis.
