I have worked in the veterinary field since 1999. My love for helping animals brought me to this profession.
I joined Kingsbrook Animal Hospital in January 2007. I am grateful to be a part of such a great staff here at Kingsbrook Animal Hospital. Everyone here is very caring and knowledgeable!
I currently own a Pit Bull Terrier, Wyatt & an American Bulldog, Sugar. I have always enjoyed working with animals and I love being able to provide great care to our patients and help educate our clients.
After working in the telecommunications industry for 33 years, I had the awesome opportunity to join the Kingsbrook team as a client service specialist. I feel very lucky to work with such a caring, compassionate people.
I have always had a huge love for all animals. As a kid, I was always bringing home every stray in the neighborhood- I drove my parents crazy! Things haven’t changed much over the years, all of my animals today were either stray or rescued from local shelters.
In my spare time, I volunteer for Wags for Hope. My dog Pogo and I provide pet therapy for the patients and staff at Frederick Memorial Hospital and local nursing homes.
My love for animals started young and only grew as I got older. It began with horses and stemmed from there into a general curiosity of all animals. I always knew I would end up working with animals in some capacity and was determined to make it a career. After graduating high school, I began a veterinary assistant program with Hagerstown Community College and volunteering at the local humane society. Shortly thereafter, I got a job in a small animal practice in Hagerstown, MD. After graduating from Shippensburg University in the Spring of 2015, I began my search for a change of pace. I knew there was something missing from the other places I've worked and I found that at Kingsbrook. I was truly fortunate to join the team in May 2015.
In my spare time, I enjoy time at home with my fuzzy critters. We have two dogs: a miniature dachshund, Dixie Petunia, and an English Mastiff, Jorie Ambrosia. Dixie's favorite pastime is chasing me on the four wheeler and licking everything. Jorie loves barking and biting at the air compressor, playing with any dog (big or small), and drinking from the garden hose. In July 2015, I rescued a kitten despite being allergic to cats for a long time. He suffered a severe injury to his right rear foot which we believe was hit by a car at only 4 weeks old. He was quickly adopted by late Mastiff, Chloe and nursed back to health. Now we have a rambunctious cat named, Pelli. Besides spending time with my animals, I enjoy motorcycling with my husband, Spencer, helping out at our family pizza shop in Hagerstown, and making crafts.
From the time I was small, I have loved all animals, but dogs have always been my biggest love. Don't worry, I happily share my home with two cats, too! I adore my little stone house in Mount Airy, MD and enjoy spending my free time gardening, and camping. If the weather disagrees, I am happy with a good book.
After 30 years in retail management I switched gears in 2011 to join a specialty veterinarian's office. In April of 2016, the opportunity to join Kingsbrook Animal Hospital allowed me to complete my journey to the best practice anywhere. Everyone cares about each and every animal that comes through our doors, and I am proud that we are "the best!"
Since I was a little girl, I have loved and been amazed by all creatures under the sun and sea. I have always wanted to work with animals, but could never decide on a single career- there were too many possibilities! My dream was and still is, to open a sanctuary for abused domestic and farm animals. While trying to find the resources and learn what it means to have an animal sanctuary, I tried my hand at many career prospects including retail, restaurants, and even the funeral industry. None of them ever felt like a good fit. At the beginning of 2017, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to start at Kingsbrook as a Client Service Representative and I could not imagine being anywhere else! I love that I get to work with such a wonderful group of skilled, compassionate people and charming furry friends!
I currently live in downtown Frederick with my husband Shane, and our little troop of furbabies: Bosco the Boxer, two kitties Maxwell Stormborn and Theodore aka "Chief" and little rattie Pipsqueak. In my free time I like to volunteer at Poplar Springs Animal Sanctuary, read a variety of books, crochet many projects at the same time and find new, beautiful places to go hiking.
Level of care and concern is top notch and everyone is so nice
